The Thuringian Chamber of Engineers

The Thuringian Chamber of  Engineers is a self-regulating public body. The supervisory authority is the Thuringian Ministry of Construction, Regional Development and Transport. The registered office and the place of jurisdiction of the Thuringian Chamber of  Engineers is Erfurt.

The duties of the Thuringian Chamber of  Engineers follow from the Thuringian law of the Thuringian Chamber of Architects, the Thuringian Chamber of  Engineers and the Protection of Professional Designations (ThürAIKG) of 5 February 2008 (GVBl. No.2/2008, P.9).

Important duties of the Chamber of  Engineers are:

  • Representing the interests of engineers in political bodies
  • Promoting and safeguarding the standing of the profession
  • Protecting the professional interests of the members as a whole
  • Advising the authorities by means of proposals and comments
  • Providing advice to engineers in questions of professional practice
  • Professional education, training and further training of its members
  • Supervising fulfilment of professional duties
  • Promoting the work of engineers for the common good and for the protection of the environment

The Chamber has freelance or employed engineers as members:

  • Consulting engineers
  • Authorised engineers (Civil or structural engineers, who are authorized to submit building applications)
  • Listed engineers
  • Engineers of other fields
